Before I became a mom, I started a pet care company that took off quickly. I worked around the clock and wore every hat. And honestly, the hustle worked for me at that stage of life! Then, I became pregnant.
I knew I wanted to stay home with my baby, so I was suddenly faced with a dilemma: either close the business I had worked so hard to build or mold my business to fit this new chapter of life.
I chose the latter.
I got to work. I became intentional about how I was spending my time, started creating a stronger infrastructure & better system for this new level of business, and began implementing support so that I no longer had to carry everything myself. For my business, that also meant hiring a team and learning to lead well.
It didn’t happen overnight, but one aligned business decision after another, the version of my business that once felt impossible started becoming a reality.
By the time my daughter, Amelia, arrived, I had built enough infrastructure to step out of the day-to-day and stay home with her. I still remember holding her while she was sleeping one day and checking in on the business. Everything was running smoothly. Our clients were being cared for, my team knew what to do, and I was sitting there holding my baby.
I remember thinking, “Wow! All of our clients are being cared for well while I’m enjoying this moment with my daughter.” That was the whole point.
And I didn’t stop there. As my family and business have continued to grow and change, I’ve continued to shape my business to better support the life I want to live.
Today, I get to stay home with my two daughters while running my business remotely. And now, I help other small business owners create well-run businesses that give them more time, energy, and freedom for what matters most.
Because I don't believe there's one "right" way to build a business. The goal is to build the right business for the life you want to live.
